Bear

Bear — Lenormand card illustration

Meaning

Strength, and the person or resource that holds it. The Bear is power — physical strength, financial weight, authority, and the capacity to protect. Traditionally it stands for a person of influence in the querent's life, often older, and often maternal or managerial: a boss, a mother, someone whose approval matters.

It also covers money in the sense of reserves rather than transactions — what is held, not what moves.

The tone is solid and largely protective, though the same weight can be overbearing. A Bear that supports and a Bear that dominates are the same card read in different contexts.

Beside other cards

Can be either subject or modifier. As a modifier it makes its neighbour larger, stronger, or more forceful — Bear + Mice is a substantial loss, Bear + Heart is a strong attachment. Beside person cards, look for who holds the power.
